Winter Happenings!

There are many things we need to cover in this blog today…
So…let’s get started!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  Jen and I wanted to take a moment to thank you for being a part of our childcare family.  We love each and every one of your children and are proud of each of their individual accomplishments throughout the year.  We know that you put your trust and faith in us and take that very seriously.

First, we would like to make sure that each child is ready for the weather. This means that we would like you to check your child’s box for long pants, long sleeve shirts and a sweatshirt for their hook if you feel they need it. Also, if your child wears boots to childcare, please make sure they have slippers or sneakers to wear indoors.  Be especially mindful of the sizing of everything as your children are growing like weeds!

We would also like to welcome Arianna and her family to our group of friends.  She will be attending on Monday, Thursday & Friday each week. Arianna is 2 years old and is a delightful child who is constantly observing the other children.  She is now talking to the other children and playing freely with them.  She has been attending since Christmas week and is enjoying her experience.  All of the children have welcomed her and are happy to see her each day that she is here.  Her parents’ names are Merrisa and Chris.  Please introduce yourself if you see them.

Next, we would like to welcome Summer and her family, who will begin next week on January 6th.  Her days will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. She is three months old and is a darling little girl.  We are all very excited about her arrival.  Mom and Dad are Amy and Adam.  Again, introduce yourself when you see them.

Along with our new arrivals, we will have one child who will have her last day on February 7th.  We are very sad to see this family leave.  Ella has been here all of her three years and before her we had Jackson from three months of age until he entered kindergarten.  All totaled, we have had the joy of caring for this wonderful family for nearly 7 years.  Although it is sad to see them move on, it is the best decision for their family.  Mom’s workplace has changed making it difficult for drop off and pick up, because she has to go beyond work each day to childcare, then go back to work.  It was a very difficult decision for Elissa and Jesse to make.  We will miss you so much! We know that Ella will thrive in her new school and we will now be able to visit with them as friends!

Congratulations to Julie on her new job!!!  Julie’s old job was so demanding of her time…even in some evenings!  Now Avery and Boden will have mommy home a bit more and mom will be able to have some more quality time with her babies.

Congratulations to Melissa, Allin, Myles and Addison!  They are moving to Marlborough these next couple of weeks!  Enjoy your new home.  The children will stay here with us.

At this point, most of you have received a renewal packet which was handed out this week.  When you return this packet, we will hand out our vacations and holiday schedule for the New Year.  We are still tweaking the first week of vacation…  Thanks for your help in keeping your child’s file up to date and the contact information current.

There is one holiday in January that we observe…It is Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 20th

Again, we are slipping into old habits.  We have had some early arrivals lately and are reminding each of you that you have contracted hours with us for several reasons.  We are open from 6:45 AM to 5:30 PM.  Our work day is 10 hours and 45 minutes long for the “up person” and 10 hours for the second person.  It is also important that we know if you are coming early, late, or not coming at all for the day because we need to have the proper number of teachers to children ratio at all times.  It is a regulation that we need to follow…not just me being tough on you.  If you are interested in changing your times, please feel free to talk to us about it and we will see what we can do.  Otherwise, please respect the drop off and pick up times. In the mornings we are:  feeding the animals, letting the dog out to go potty, checking the safety of the space your children will be in (making sure it is free of trash or other materials not meant for children), putting up gates for the stairs and kitchen, sometimes plowing or snow blowing the driveway, shoveling and sanding/salting the sidewalks, etc.  We need you to respect our morning routine for the safety and well-being of your children.  I understand that we have been on holiday…Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day, but now is the time to get back on track for the New Year.

Finally…if you have read all of this: CONGRATULATIONS! J I have been tallying what you have paid in 2013 and would like to have each of you text me what you paid me to see if our numbers match.  I will compare these numbers and give you each a receipt to sign so that we can all apply them to our taxes.

Thank you and let’s hope 2014 is a great year for all of us!
